With a father that hated my existence, and a heep of staff having been ordered to give me no special treatment? Fairly lonely, as it turns out.
What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever been?
Near the fort, there’s this hill. It has a monument from some Kathric of ancient times. She sort of looks a bit like me. I always found the view from that hill to be spectacular… Probably the only reason I’d ever consider taking my father’s seat.
Have you ever been seriously hurt, physically or otherwise?
I always had a bodyguard in my early soldier days… By the time he was killed in front of me, I was already good enough to fend for myself.
Describe the greatest moment in your life so far:
My father got sick of all the attention I was getting after my greatest victory, and decided to have me duel the foremost swordsman in the land… To prove a point. I beat him… The look on my father’s face was priceless.
Briefly describe a childhood memory:
I was running down the halls, as children do… I ran into a young officer. He chuckled, and picked me up. Said I looked pretty short for a Kathric. I laughed, and took his helmet, placing it on my head. He chuckled, and said that I look better with the helmet on. The next time I saw saw him, so up close, was when my blade pierces his shoulder, making me the victor in our duel.

My people. Well, my father’s people.

I wouldn’t say hate… I can’t explain why, but for ever reason… I can’t bring myself to hate my father.

I never knew my mother, and my father barely spent any time with me.

Scary. Terrifying. Yeah, something like that.

There are many Gods to worship.
Are there any ceremonies or rituals especially important to you?
I still pray for my father and our—his land, whenever I find the time.
What do you think of when you look at the stars?
I don’t recognise them, anymore. I don’t know where I am.

Plenty of people. Renard, my old bodyguard, for one.

I use whatever implement I need to finish the job.
Have you ever killed anyone?
Yes… On the day of my greatest victory, my blade ended many lives.
Do you enjoy combat, or do you fight only when there is a cause?
I won’t lie… I find a strange enjoyment from stopping the blades of those who think their blades cannot be stopped.
How much do you exercise? In what ways?
I still practice the sword techniques my late-bodyguard taught me.
For Smooth Talkers:
Do you feel bad about lying?
What sort of people are interesting to talk to?
Anyone who seems interesting.
Do you like talking about yourself?
Not really… People always tend to look confused. I can’t tell if they get sad, or think I’m a spoiled brat… Regardless.
Are you a good listener, or are people only swayed when you do the talking?
Depends on the situation. Sometimes one has to take charge.
Have you ever regretted convincing someone of something?
Yes and no. No… We won. Yes, a lot of people did get hurt in the process.
Do you get stage-fright?
I used to.
If you could have one wish, what would you wish for?
I—-I don’t know…
Do you play any instruments?
I used to play the flute, and sing quite a bit… But not for many years now.
Do you have any habits or quirks?
People found me a bit creepy, I think… I tend to gravitate to the walls, and I observe the people around me.
Do you have any hobbies?
We had this ballgame, that me and some of the soldiers used to play. You have a ball, and you try to throw it into the goals. The rules are more complicated than that, but yeah.
Is there anything you dream about doing?
I sometimes dream that I return home, and my father has died… I forced to take his seat. Then I wake up. I know that’s not what you meant by “dream”, but… Yeah.
Do you have any prejudices?
I try very hard not to.
Write down a random fact about yourself that you haven’t mentioned before:
My father ordered me to marry one of the most prominent generals, as he was dying. Some said it was to make sure the line remained strong. But, we all knew it was to keep an eye on me. He still resented me, even more now, after earning the respect of so many of his generals. He specifically picked the eldest general, who still had too much loyalty to father to even like me. I would rather lead on my own, than lead with that old pig. But, even if I have the respect of the others… They would never side with me, over my father. At least not with the pig on my father’s side. I would need more resources to overthrow the pig, and take the seat without having to marry some good-for-nothing, other than war, pig!
